How to get to Vaux-le-Vicomte from Paris?
If you can’t imagine your trip to Paris and its environs without exploring its stunning architectural masterpieces and if you want to get an unforgettable aesthetic pleasure, be sure to take a fascinating trip to the Vaux-le-Vicomte estate.
Vaux-le-Vicomte is also known as the ancestor of the world-famous Versailles. If you have visited it before, then it will be very interesting for you to see the so-called predecessor of Versailles. If not, then you can follow the development of classical French architecture.
Vaux-le-Vicomte was being built over 3 years (from 1658 to 1661), which is quite difficult to believe when you look at the estate itself. This is a tall, rather strict, stately building, with columns and sculptures at the main entrance. Vaux-le-Vicomte is surrounded by an artificial moat, which recalls medieval times.
The atmosphere of past centuries is fully preserved inside the palace. Once inside, you will see the office of Nicolas Fouquet (superintendent of finance under Louis XIV), for whom this estate was built; bedrooms of Louis XV and Louis XVI, dining room, kitchen and wine cellars. There is a bell tower in the central part of the castle. If you climb it, you will have an amazing view of the park surrounding the estate. In addition, if you come here from the end of March to mid-October, then every second and last Saturday of the month you will find an amazing fountain show here.
